Oakland Full Home Remodel
The Client
A family with high-school aged kids, who wanted more ways to be together than their closed-off layout allowed.
The Challenge
Balancing openness with dedicated use areas and privacy.
The Results
We opened all the walls on the main floor, moving the kitchen into the center of everything. Parents are no longer tucked away inside a closed-off kitchen prepping meals while the rest of the family plays games and watches TV. However, we also created a teenager space downstairs all its own. Complete with entertainment options, a sectional, kitchenette and dining area. Everything they need to host their friends without running upstairs - fridge and freezer drawers for food and ice, microwave for popcorn, and a sink. We can easily imagine how useful this space will be as teenagers transition into college and beyond.
